The Big Cat, Kayla

The Big Cat
By: Kayla

There was a big cat.
She lived in a tent.
She drank milk.
She payed no rent.
She snapped at girls.
She snapped at boys.
She snapped at toys.
And she snapped at me.
She didn’t catch the girls.
She didn’t catch the boys.
She didn’t catch the grown-ups.
But she did catch me.

The Little Turtle
By: Vachel Lindsey
There was a little turtle.
He lived in a box.
He swam in a puddle.
He climbed on the rocks.

He snapped at a mosquito.
He snapped at a flea.
He snapped at a minnow.
And he snapped at me.

He caught the mosquito.
He caught the flea.
He caught the minnow.
But he didn’t catch me.
