Persuasive Essay Multi-media Productions!

December 13, 2006

Writing a persuasive essay as a class:

Today in class 3-206 we are going to write a persuasive essay to convince people to visit Egypt using a laptop, projector, and your research.

First we are going to get out our writer’s notebooks and share with the class lines from our writing on Egypt.  Then we will form those lines into a persuasive essay here on the blog.

Adding images to our essay:

Once our essay is finished, we will search for a few images from the Internet to help illustrate some of the points we make in our essay.

To do this, we will visit the Creative Commons Image Database and type in key words like “mummy”, “egypt”, and “pyramids” and see what we find.  Then we will “copy” the address of those images, and “paste” them into our blog post.

Follow up exercise:

The last line of our persuasive essay will encourage our audience to find out more about the Mummies of Egypt like this: “For more information about the Mummies of Egypt, read the “Comments” to this blog post, where we’ve posted information we’ve found on the Cleveland Museum of Art’s web section on Mummies.”

Video Illustration:

Once our persuasive writing and blog post is complete, we will have the materials to create a video illustration to accompany our blog post, that includes our voices reading lines of our writing along with the photos that we’ve found!

Let’s get to WORK!

That sounds like a great project. I can’t wait to see the finished product. Good luck!
