The PS124brooklyn.com 2010 Top 10!
PS 124 students have been publishing their work to our school website, ps124brooklyn.com, more than ever. Now it is June, and it’s time to celebrate!
The 2010 Top 10 will celebrate and showcase some of our favorite online projects of the year. We will release two choices a day, selected by our technology committee, starting with #10, and #9 on Monday June 14, and ending with #2 and #1 on Friday June 18.
We believe that literacy in 2010 should, in addition to text, include the ability to read, write and think critically about all of the multi-media our students encounter in their lives.
Teachers at PS 124 have been expanding their curriculum to include “media literacy” and technology skills* through the use of online activities, publishing written work on our website and Google Docs, and teaching students to communicate using multimedia through programs like Voicethread.com and videos in iMovie.
Stay logged on to ps124brooklyn.com during the week of June 14, and watch for the posts at the top of the home page to see the best of the best of PS 124 2010 online!
* Teachers have been developing best practices for integrating media literacy and technology into the curriculum according to the National Educational Technology Standards (NETS), and Core Concepts of Media Literacy Education since 2004. See our media education and technology resources on our Staff Page for more details.

I hope to revisit this site often!
